Warm Welcome have a duty of care to ensure that all students placed in our homestay accommodation are safe. All homestay accommodation must comply with current law regarding the accommodation of paying guests. It is a legal requirement to have an up-to-date Gas Safety certificate, and that a Gas Safe engineer services your gas boiler, hob and gas fires each year. It is also a legal requirement to conduct a fire safety risk assessment, which we can help you to do, if you have not done one before.
Warm Welcome have a strict policy regarding accommodation arrangements with homestay hosts for guests under the age of 16 (12-15 years old), under 18 (16 and 17 year olds) and vulnerable adults (18 to 24 year old students away from their home support network and with limited language skills)
It is important that all hosts are aware of their duty of care when hosting children aged under 16 (12 - 15 years old), young people aged under 18 (16-17 years old) and vulnerable adults aged 18 - 24 years old, and are familiar with Warm Welcome's Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy.
In line with our commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, we must require hosts have a valid Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate issued within the last 3 years or registered with the Update Service.
During the visit to your home, Warm Welcome will take photographs of the guest room(s) and the bathroom, kitchen and living room. If you are accepted as a homestay host, we may ask your permission to use some of the photos taken for our website and brochures to show the variety of accommodation we offer.
Warm Welcome work to the British Council guidelines on homestay accommodation, and will send a staff member to visit your home before placing a student with you.
