As employees at the University of Michigan Health System, we all know that the parking situation has been a problem for years. Instead of fixing it like they promised, the administration has made the problem worse and created a crisis. We need to be able to get to work on time in order to provide care for our patients or assist in doing our work that makes patient care possible. Frontline staff should have parking priority over administrators. It is completely unacceptable that hundreds of gold spots go empty while employees struggle to find the few spots left. This situation is bad for recruiting and retaining the people who make this hospital run. This is bad for staff morale. We demand solutions. UMHS must provide safe, efficient, and affordable parking options.
