Grand Valley Power’s Jack Broughton-Colorado Mesa University Scholarship is created to promote the educational pursuits of students in Grand Valley Power's service territory specifically for the purpose of obtaining a CMU degree.
While this scholarship is for an undergraduate degree in any area of studies at CMU, special consideration will be given to applicants who will be majoring in the Mechanical Engineering program.

One (1) $2,000 scholarship will be granted to a student in 2018. The scholarship winner can expect to have their award renewed subject to the conditions below.
Awards may be used to cover any of the following costs at Colorado Mesa University:
* Tuition costs.
* On-campus room and board expenses during the academic year only.
* Appropriate allowances for books and fees.
The Grand Valley Power Jack Broughton-Colorado Mesa University Scholarship may be combined with other scholarships, grants and awards.
Applicants can only receive one scholarship per lifetime. Applicants are not eligible to receive multiple scholarships in a year issued by Grand Valley Power.
A committee of educators appointed by the board of directors will review all applications received by the due date and select an awardee, who will be notified by mail and/or email by April 1, 2018.
The Jack Broughton-Colorado Mesa University Scholarship is renewable for a total of four years for full-time students who are making satisfactory progress toward their undergraduate degree. Students are expected to maintain continuous matriculation, and in general, failure to maintain the following grade point averages,
First year: 3.0
Second Year: 3.0
Third Year: 3.0
will result in loss of the scholarship. However, Grand Valley Power may consider extenuating circumstances with respect to individual students in determining whether to renew the award. Students wishing to renew their awards must submit an official transcript at the end of each academic year, along with a cover letter written by the student explaining the academic progress s/he has made to date and detailing any circumstances which merit special consideration.
In the event a scholarship is not renewed for cause to a particular scholarship recipient, Grand Valley Power reserves the right to award that scholarship to the second place finalist in that respective class. Grand Valley Power will keep on file the permanent address of the student who placed second for future reference should the original winner lose eligibility.
